Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) 

When school is closed due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the district may implement an Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) Day. AMI Days allow students to continue learning while counting toward required instructional time.

In advance, each student will receive a set of AMI instructional packets to keep at home for use during school closures. Packets will be labeled Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, etc., and teachers will review expectations with students prior to closure and during days of school being not in session.

AMI packets provide enrichment and practice in literacy and numeracy, reinforcing previously taught skills and concepts. When an AMI Day is announced, the district will notify families through its communication channels and identify which packet should be completed.

Students are expected to complete the assigned AMI packet for each designated AMI Day. Completed work serves as documentation of participation and is required for students to be counted in attendance. Upon returning to school, students will be provided additional time, if needed, to complete and submit their assignments.

If an extended or long-term school closure occurs, the district may implement additional online learning opportunities to ensure students continue receiving meaningful instruction. Students with disabilities will receive accommodations and services in accordance with their Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Section 504 Plans.
